CG 29 Aug
My Father is the Creator of Heaven and Earth!

Hey pple,
Here’s a brief summary on what we did during cg:

1. ICE BREAKER
7-up: a great test of concentration and MATHS (yucky)…deb made it more complicated by setting a rule that we had to say one of the 4 books of the gospel when the number was a multiple of 7 or had 7 in it. Funny thing was that deb ended up doing the forfeit cos she very blur. Haha. Chun also kena forfeit cos very blur. N poor josh who came in late got sabo-ed cos he had no idea what was happening. Hee hee. Forfeit was to sing “With Christ in the vessel” together with all the actions. It was hilarious seeing chun learn the action…esp when the tempo got faster n faster =)

2. WORSHIP

Did Sunday school songs with all the actions. I thot it was very fun! Don’t u guys all agree? *beams
§ I love u Jesus deep down in my heart
§ With Christ in the vessel

3. CG AFFAIRS

§ update on blog: pple just post anything u want!! Make this blog as lively as possible (hopefully related to Christianity)
§ Prayer partner: each person to have a prayer partner each week. To remember to pray for ur partner during quiet time.
§ CG notebooks: for taking down notes during bs, prayer partner's request

4. BIBLE STUDY

What it means to be a Christian Part I
Had a discussion abt what being a Christian meant to pple in cg. Some of the answers were:
§ Most blessed
§ Children of God
§ Believe that Christ died for our sins so that we can go to heaven and have everlasting life
§ Being a Christian is a choice
§ What we do or say is very impt because we are Christ’s representatives on earth – do things for the glory of God

Focus of this wk:
Christians as belonging to Jesus, children of God
Some verses in the bible that indicates that we are children of God:

John 1:12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Galatians 3:26-28
26You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 4:1-7
1What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. 4But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 6Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba,[
a] Father." 7So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

The fact that we are children of God highlights the importance of relationship with our God. He is not meant to be someone distant, high n mighty in heaven, but someone personal and close to us.

To be close to God, it is impt to build r/s with Him. Just like how human relationships are build through spending time with the person, our relationship with God can only be built if we spend time with him, not just on a Sunday but everyday. We can pray, read the bible, sing to Him etc. Reading the bible is one way to understand the heart of God and understand His will and His expectations for u as his child. It is also not enuf to just talk to Him, but also try listening to what He has to say to u.

It is also impt to acknowledge Him as our heavenly Father and acknowledge that we belong to Him. Are you proud of your identity as a Christian and a heavenly Father who is the creator of Heaven and Earth? (not the green tea la!)

Nxt week 5 Sept: What it means to live as a Christian
Read & Reflect: 1 Peter 4

Come with ur personal insights / more verses so that we can have a fruitful sharing!

hugz,

cherlyn
